Unfortunately bones can become broken. When that happens, the body has a tremendous ability to heal the bone, but the bones need to be lined up correctly. Some fractures will heal with simple immobilization, some require the bones to be put back in place, and some will require surgery to put the bones exactly back in place and then keep them in place while the body heals. The less invasive that one is, the less damage done to healthy tissue, then the quicker that healing often is.
A bone fracture (sometimes abbreviated FRX or Fx, Fx, or #) is a medical condition in which there is a break in the continuity of the bone. A bone fracture can be the result of high force impact or stress, or injury as a result of certain medical conditions that weaken the bones, such as osteoporosis, bone cancer, or osteogenesis imperfecta, where the fracture is then properly termed a pathologic fracture.
